Blog Your Girlfriend: Annie O

snowflake (1)

Congratulations! You are reading the second Blog Your Girlfriend post. This is a new monthly series you’ll {hopefully} find on the first Friday of every month over here at the Bee’s Knee. I’m reaching out to my girlfriends and their girlfriend’s girlfriend’s and so on and so forth, and getting to know them. The goal is to ask them questions that we wouldn’t think to ask each other in everyday conversations. It has helped bring my friends a little closer to me, because they’re willing to share a place of their heart with me that they haven’t before. I’m excited to introduce you to my Sister-In-Law, Annie O’Connell!

About Annie:

My name is Annie, and I am 31 years old. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, but currently live in West Texas. I work at a Deaf community college and I am a full-time sign language interpreter. It took a long time for me to find what I wanted to do career-wise, and I wish I had figured it out sooner, but here I am and I love my job because I am around a lot of great people, it is different everyday, and I am not stuck in an office. In my free time, I like to go to the gym, because feeling strong in the gym translates over into feeling strong in my every day life as well, and playing with my pitbull/lab mix, Chile Pepper, who doesn’t like strangers but loves me.
1 // What is your favorite workout jam?   Confident by Demi Lovato, Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeld, and Run the World (Girls) by The Queen are all great women-power anthems to remind me I am strong when working out!
2 // Describe the perfect donut: Bacon on top of maple frosting–salty and sweet can’t be beat!
3 //  What is your favorite breakfast food? For just about every single meal for a year now, I make a bowl of oatmeal on the stove every morning, and add unsweeteend vanilla almond milk right before I eat it. Its a satisfying meal that gives me energy for the morning.

4 // What school subject did you find the most fascinating?  In both high school and college I took a “Science Fiction” literature class where we read and dissected Kurt Vonnegut, Frankenstein, and watched Blade Runner, etc.  I loved it because it was so different and it also opened my mind to the possibility of enjoying new genres which I didn’t expect to like so much.

5 // What is your favorite color?  I don’t have a favorite color per say but I prefer to dress in black, grey, and blue, because they are simple, classic, aren’t flashy, fit my job, and mix and match easily.
I hope you enjoyed the second ‘Blog Your Girlfriend’ post of the series! Want to be featured?? Send me an email at
