New Year, New Blog, New Goals

The New Year always brings along a change in routines. Everyone is setting new goals and planning ways to better themselves for the coming new year. I love the energy that people have in the New Year, many of us will lose that New Year energy by February but regardless, man in January are we energized or what!? While I have some of that New Year energy, I wanted to share some of my 2016 Goals with you. What goals do you have for yourself this year? I would love to hear!

Volunteer: In 2016, I will start volunteering at an animal shelter. Animal Welfare is a cause close to my heart, and I feel too separated from it. It’s a cause I want to be able to help make a difference for. I’ve been holding off on doing this because, well, life is busy! But I want to set aside time and make this a priority this year.

Run More, Run Faster: Around February of 2015 I started running and it’s a habit that, for the most part, I have stuck to. I a made goal to run 3 5k’s in 2015, and I did it! Now that I’ve crossed the 5k’s off my list, my eyes are on bigger goals. My primary goal for 2016 is to keep running, to not stop this habit. Aside from that, I wouldn’t mind running a few longer races! I plan to start off the year with a few 5 k’s and see where I can take it from there! I’ll keep you posted!

Read More Books:  Mid-2015 I discovered the glory of audio books, and since then, I’ve been able to ‘read’ a whole lot more! I love to read, but unless we have a long drive or a vacation in front of us, I don’t have the time to do it. That’s why I love audiobooks! I can zip through books  on my commute to and from work every day! (Shout out to the Mount Horeb Public Library for having such a good selection!) With that in mind, my goal for myself is to listen to at least 12 audio books this year, and read 6 books. Have any recommendations for me? I’d love to hear them! (I got a nice new stash at Christmas as well!)

Be Nice to my Husband: I know this sounds dumb and obvious, but I want to make it a goal that I revisit throughout the year. Am I keeping my attitude in check? Hearing him out instead of putting my own thoughts and feelings first? Am I going out of my way to make sure that he knows that I love him? Towards the end of 2015, I did a 21-day prayer journey for our marriage. This journey made me aware of a lot of things I was doing or saying in our daily lives that had a negative impact on both of us. The FIRST day of said prayer journey, that Max had no idea I was doing, he said to me, “You’re being really nice to me today.” And I thought, “Today?! Today!” I should be really nice to him every day! So that is my goal, to be nice to my husband, every day. Because he deserves a wife who is as nice, loving and caring as he is.

Get a tattoo

Go on more adventures

Be a better friend

Send out Wedding Thank You’s (Long overdue, but they will get out!)

Clean out my closet and wardrobe
