Happy early Friday! I didn’t have any crafts or cupcakes on Wednesday because I had a baking FAIL…and no time to come up with another one! Hopefully the early Friday Five makes up for it! I’ll try to have something extra special next week. In light of the upcoming holiday this weeks Friday Five is FIVE THINGS I’M THANKFUL FOR! What are you thankful for this year?!
Friends & Family
First, I am thankful for friends and family. Without them, life would be pretty close to meaningless. It would take all night to list every single one of you but know that you’re all at the top of my thankful list this year! I honestly wouldn’t be who I am today if my family didn’t mold me into that person and if my friends weren’t there to support every step I’ve taken!
Food, Shelter & Basic Necessities
Second, I am thankful for food in my stomach, a roof over my head, clean water to drink and bathe in and wine to drink at night. Maybe that last part wasn’t appropriate, but seriously?! Whenever I’m feeling down I try to stop and think about how much worse it could be…a lot worse. Honestly, I’ve got it made. Sometimes I just need to remind myself of this fact…I’ve got it made.
Don’t read this one unless you want to vom. Third, I am thankful for the most beautiful kind of love that I get to be surrounded by every single day. Really, I’m spoiled. Now that I’m used to it, it’s easy to take it for granted. But again, I have to stop and remind myself that not everyone has someone who loves them; someone who buys them their favorite candy, someone who helps them make their dreams come true, someone who kisses their forehead and talks in silly voices to make them feel better when they’re sad. It’s a beautiful thing and I’m so thankful my life has been blessed with the presence of a truly beautiful kind of love.
Fourth, I’m thankful for Pip. He makes every day a little brighter and he inspires me to make a difference. Whenever I’m feeling down about having to go to work I look at Pip and remember why I do it. I get to help animals find their forever home and I get to make sure they feel loved until they get there. Every animal I see I wonder to myself, “What if this was Pip?” And I try my best to make them feel the same kind of love Pip gets to feel every second of every day. No, I don’t have the time to cuddle every animal for ten minutes, but I can walk by them and scratch their ears or belly and tell them how special they are. And when I get home at the end of the day, I have a very happy boy waiting for me who makes it impossible to be sad. Like ever.
A Good Job
Last but not least I’m thankful to have a good job. A good full time job at that. It’s not easy for everyone to find a job, let alone a good one, so I’m very thankful to have found one. I haven’t even been at FVHA for a month yet, but I already love it. I work for a cause that I love and I’m surrounded by people who are doing the same. I stand by my belief of not simply settling for a job. Wait for the one that makes you feel ACCOMPLISHED at the end of the day. Making a career out of a passion really is a beautiful thing.
What are you thankful for this year?! Have a great weekend, I hope it’s full of adventure and things you love! And Thanksgiving Dinner preparations! 😉
