Spooky Elixir Jars

One more day closer to Halloween! I have been on the lookout for really cute elixir jars. All the ones I have found were way over-priced. A lot of the DIY tutorials looked way more complicated than anything I would want to do. So, I set out to make my own easy version of these spooky elixir jars!

you will need:

An assortment of glass or plastic jars or jugs. I used two wine bottles and a large glass jug. I also did two books!

Black Satin Spray Paint

Black ‘Granite/Stone’ Spray Paint -I found mine at True Value for about $7.00

A paper bag

Glue gun/ hot glue

1) Spray paint all your jars black. Let dry, at least an hour!

2) Spray your granite spray paint overtop of the black paint. Let dry, at least an hour!
image3) While waiting for your paint to dry, make your labels! I used a paper bag and tore off small pieces I could use as labels.

4) Using a Sharpie, write on your labels. I messed around with dipping them in coffee and baking them to look ‘worn’ but just wrinkling them up did basically the same thing.

image5) Using a hot glue gun, glue your labels onto your jars and books. TA DA!

imageEventually I might add some ribbon and get some corks to put in the jars, but this is all I have for now, and it sure gets the job done! Love having these to display on top of my fridge, they might stay up year ’round!
