Friday Five

Happy Friday Everyone! I’m super excited for Friday this week because I have a fun Saturday planned! I’m visiting Door County, WI for the first time with some friends to pack in a bunch of fall activities! Looking forward to visiting a pumpkin patch, picking some apples, having a picnic, and enjoying some hot apple cider! I’ll spare the schpeel this week and get right to the good stuff, today’s Friday Five!

Being an Auntie is first on today’s Friday Five. I have two nephews and two nieces, soon to be three nieces. My first nephew was born when I was 16. Ever since then, I’ve taken the role of being an Aunt for granted, because the nephews and nieces just kept coming! Some people don’t get to experience the joy of being an aunt or uncle until their 20’s or 30’s, if ever. When I stop to think about it, I got pretty lucky!  I love watching them learn, grow and play. I also love spoiling them. I love scrapbooking for the girls, because even though it doesn’t mean much now, I know how much they’ll appreciate it when they get older, how much they’ll love looking back on the memories. I love buying gifts for my nephews; legos, nerf guns, anything involving dinosaurs. I love watching my nephews interact with their younger girl cousins. I don’t get to see them as much as I would like, but it makes the time I do get to spend with them that much sweeter! Being an Auntie is one of the best gigs and I wouldn’t trade the role for anything!

Number two is all the movies and shows being released this fall. I told Max yesterday that we needed a separate calendar to keep track of all the upcoming movies we want to see and to keep track of when all of our favorite shows are on! Sleepy Hollow premiered a couple weeks ago, and we’re hooked on that. The new seasons of New Girl and Grey’s Anatomy have started, two shows I cannot miss. Pretty Little Liars, The Walking Dead and American Horror Story are all starting in October. And for movies! The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out November 22, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, comes out on December 13! As if there weren’t enough reasons to love fall!

Max bought me this candle last fall, he swears he’ll never spend that much money on a candle again (and I believe him) but I was so surprised and I LOVE this candle! I love lighting candles, especially in the fall when it’s chilly outside. I light candles when we eat dinner, light candles when I take a bath, light candles when I’m reading, I love candles! What’s your favorite candle or scent?

20131003_123234Number four is the view in Wisconsin during the fall. If you live in Wisconsin or have visited you know how amazing and breathtaking it is. If you’ve never been to Wisconsin during the fall, then I feel very sorry for you. When I walk Pip I often catch myself stopping to stare at a particular beautiful tree with all red leaves. Yesterday, I was volunteering at a Pioneer Days event in Kaukauna, WI and we were in a big open area surrounded by tree covered hills, the trees were all shades of different beautiful colors, I’ve lived in Wisconsin my whole life and I simply could not get over the view!

il_570xN.499553474_hdodLast but not least is Annette Lowder Pottery. Annette Lowder is a potter who makes some really creative and cute things! And the best part is, it’s all very reasonably priced. I’m particularly in love with this pictured Whimsical Garden Fairy House! She has a random selection of mugs, plates, owls, spice holders, pots and a ton of other stuff! Check out her Etsy Shop !

Have a great, adventure filled weekend!
